Platform Engineer (Kubernetes) at Maven

Maven is a rapidly expanding global firm that manages sophisticated trading strategies across international markets. We are currently building a follow-the-sun support model to ensure our trading platforms and internal processes remain efficient and operational around the clock. We are seeking a dedicated Platform Engineer with a focus on Kubernetes to join our small, specialized team. This is a unique opportunity to help shape our technical operations and influence a major transformation project aimed at standardizing how we research and run our applications.

Key outcomes

• Take operational ownership of production trading and research environments, covering the entire lifecycle from front to back office.
• Collaborate closely with developers, traders, data engineers, and quant researchers to ensure our systems are well-configured and understood.
• Advocate for continuous improvement in our deployment, automation, monitoring, and resiliency practices.
• Provide reliable and predictable coverage, including participation in periodic on-call rotations.
• Troubleshoot complex distributed systems and manage effective incident triage and escalation.
• Automate operational tasks, such as system health monitoring, configuration checks, and reliability reporting, using Python.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar technical operations, DevOps, or platform engineering role.
• Proven experience in deploying and supporting Kubernetes applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a proactive, self-starting approach to problem ownership.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new information and navigate steep learning curves.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively within a globally distributed team.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience supporting on-premises Kubernetes clusters or hybrid environments.
• Strong background in Linux administration and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with SQL, HTTP messaging, and various network protocols.
• Experience using industry-standard tools such as Git, Jira, TeamCity, and Ansible.
• Previous experience working in a front-office trading environment or managing operational risk.
• An academic background in computer science or engineering.
