We foster a supportive culture that values personal and professional growth, and we are deeply committed to building an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives drive innovation.
About the Role
We are seeking a PhD Data Science NLP Intern to join us for the summer. This is an internship opportunity designed for a student currently enrolled in a PhD program related to Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Computational Linguistics. You will work alongside our research team to tackle complex natural language processing challenges, focusing on extracting meaning from speech and text while refining our machine learning models.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research in NLP to understand and codify meaning across multiple communication modalities.
- Develop new machine learning models or improve our existing ones using state-of-the-art techniques, with a preference for experience in sentence-generative language models.
- Collaborate with our team of researchers and practitioners to test new approaches and transition your research into functional proofs of concept.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Human Computer Interaction, NLP, or a related field.
- At least one year of hands-on experience working with machine learning and natural language processing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share your findings.
- A proven ability to execute a research agenda independently while working well within a team.
- Proficiency in programming with Python or R.
- Experience using deep learning platforms like PyTorch or TensorFlow to implement transformer-based models.
- A documented history of research contributions, such as peer-reviewed publications at top-tier conferences or journals.
Location
This role is available to be performed from anywhere, though we maintain offices in Deerfield and Chicago, Illinois, and observe a hybrid work model to facilitate team collaboration.
Compensation and Benefits
We provide our team members with the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement to support a healthy work-life balance.
