We are currently searching for a People and Culture Director to join our team on a part-time, remote basis. As a bootstrapped news media startup, we are in the early prototyping phase of our flagship project, a weekly news podcast titled At the Moment. We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who is passionate about building an inclusive, equitable, and accessible work culture from the ground up. You will work directly with our co-founders to define our talent strategy and shape the identity of our organization during these formative early stages.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from identifying potential candidates to guiding them through the offer process.
- Champion our values by identifying barriers to inclusion, developing innovative solutions, and fostering a socially responsible environment.
- Create and implement operational frameworks that allow our remote-first team to collaborate effectively and efficiently.
Requirements
This is a senior-level position that requires a deep understanding of human resources and organizational development. You should have a strong background in talent acquisition, team building, and process design. We value candidates who can provide constructive feedback and who are comfortable working in a non-hierarchical, startup environment. Proficiency in English is required to ensure clear communication across our team.
What we offer
This role provides the unique opportunity to help build a company from the ground up. While we are currently in the pre-funding stage, we offer equity compensation for your contributions. You will have the flexibility of a remote work arrangement, with an expected commitment of 10 hours per week. As we secure our first round of funding, this role will evolve to include additional responsibilities such as managing payroll and formalizing our benefits programs.
