We are Shearer's, a prominent contract manufacturer and private label supplier within the North American snack industry. From our headquarters in Massillon, Ohio, we operate 17 state-of-the-art facilities across North America, including a notable LEED platinum certified site. We take pride in producing high-quality snacks, ranging from kettle-cooked chips and tortilla chips to cookies and wafers. We are currently looking for a Senior Packaging Equipment Process Specialist to join our team in a full-time, hybrid capacity. In this role, you will drive the efficiency of our packaging operations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety through hands-on leadership and technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical solutions and troubleshooting for primary packaging, film, rigid materials, and pallet configurations to resolve operational bottlenecks.
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies, such as lean manufacturing and statistical analysis, to enhance process reliability, reduce costs, and optimize production throughput.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members by conducting training on equipment operation, safety procedures, and technical best practices to build a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Requirements
- A two-year technical degree or a four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a packaging-related role, specifically involving hands-on work with new and used packaging equipment.
- Deep technical knowledge of seasoning systems, vertical form/fill/seal machines, multi-head weighing units, and packaging automation.
- Proven experience with Lean manufacturing tools, including Total Production Maintenance, 5S, and quick changeover processes.
- Strong critical thinking and systems analysis skills, with the ability to identify root causes of failures and implement effective engineering solutions.
