Shearer's is a premier contract manufacturer and private label supplier in the North American snack industry. Based in Massillon, Ohio, we operate 17 state-of-the-art facilities across the United States and Canada, including a LEED platinum certified plant. We are looking for a Packaging Equipment Process Specialist to join our team in a hybrid capacity, helping us maintain the high standards of quality for our diverse range of snacks, including potato chips, tortilla chips, and various baked goods.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and solutions for primary and secondary packaging, including film, corrugate materials, and pallet configurations.
- Troubleshoot production bottlenecks and equipment issues to improve overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles to enhance quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members by fostering a collaborative environment and conducting regular performance training.
- Manage the commercialization of new products and processes while ensuring all documentation for process control is accurate.
- Conduct mass balances and evaluate equipment throughput to identify and resolve production limitations.
- Travel to various plant locations as needed to provide hands-on technical support and process oversight.
Must-haves
- At least 5 years of experience in a packaging-related field, including hands-on work with new and existing equipment.
- Proficiency with seasoning systems, vertical form/fill/seal machines, multi-head weighing units, and packaging automation.
- Strong background in Lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, Quick Changeover, Total Production Maintenance, and defect handling.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
- Solid understanding of engineering science, production processes, and statistical troubleshooting methods.
- A 2-year technical degree or a 4-year bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.

- Prior experience in the snack food or high-volume manufacturing industry.
- Proven track record of managing facility design projects or large-scale equipment implementation.
