About the Role
We are looking for an Optical Test and Characterization Engineer to join our team in a full-time capacity. This mid-level role is essential for the evaluation of our next-generation near-eye display systems. You will work directly with our mechanical, manufacturing, and optical design teams to assess new architectures and components, ensuring our technology meets the highest standards of performance and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute testing methodologies to characterize optical components, including micro displays like uLED, DLP, and LCoS.
- Collaborate with our design team to establish performance metrics and ensure our prototypes meet specific product goals.
- Assemble and evaluate prototypes by focusing on image quality, polarization, and thermal characteristics, while documenting these procedures for future manufacturing use.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in optical engineering or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in an optical test or characterization environment.
- Proficiency in scientific programming languages such as Python, Matlab, or C++.
- Strong technical knowledge regarding the characterization of polarization-based optical systems and display quality metrics.
- A proactive mindset with a genuine curiosity for solving complex engineering challenges.
Location
This is an on-site position based at our office in San Mateo, California, which is conveniently located within walking distance of the Caltrain station.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $165,000, depending on your individual experience. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
