At Vay, we are redefining mobility by pioneering remote driving technology that delivers cars to customers without a driver inside. Since our launch in 2018, we have built the world's first commercial remote driving product and successfully deployed vehicles on public roads in both Europe and the United States. As we scale our fleet in Las Vegas and beyond, we are looking for a Senior Operational Safety Engineer to join our team in Germany on a full-time, hybrid basis to ensure our groundbreaking service remains safe and reliable.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and refine our operational safety protocols to ensure they remain effective as we scale.
- Manage the investigation and triage process for any incidents occurring within our daily operations.
- Maintain detailed documentation and records regarding safety findings and incident reports.
- Analyze safety processes to identify areas for optimization and improvement.
- Work alongside cross-functional teams to integrate a safety-first mindset into every aspect of our operations.

- A structured, highly organized approach to solving complex problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- An analytical mindset capable of identifying risks and addressing safety concerns.
- A genuine passion for maintaining and promoting a culture of safety.
- Sharp attention to detail to ensure full compliance and effective risk mitigation.
- The ability and willingness to travel for work, including long-distance trips, several times per year.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Practical experience in software development using SQL, C/C++, or Python.
- A professional background in operational safety or safety engineering across any industry.
- Hands-on expertise in conducting root cause analysis, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI or Superset to track safety trends.
