Shearer's is a premier contract manufacturer and private label partner within the North American snack industry. Based in Massillon, Ohio, our organization operates 17 state-of-the-art facilities across the United States and Canada, including one of the industry's first LEED platinum-certified manufacturing plants. We are renowned for producing high-quality snacks ranging from kettle-cooked chips and tortilla chips to cookies and wafers. We are currently seeking a New Products & Capital Leader to join our team in Dayton, Ohio, to oversee the strategic management of our fixed assets and capital investments.
Key outcomes
- Direct a multi-functional team through the entire lifecycle of capital projects, from initial conceptualization to final closeout.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, ensuring all tasks, budgets, and timelines are tracked using standard project management tools.
- Champion a culture of efficiency and low-cost operations while ensuring all engineering designs adhere to strict safety, GMP, HACCP, and OSHA standards.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external customers to define project requirements, provide accurate cost estimates, and manage resource allocation.
- Proactively identify project risks and implement effective remediation plans to keep initiatives on schedule and within budget.
- Collaborate on long-term capital planning and automation priorities to provide leadership and technical insight to the broader engineering department.
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with business partners and management to ensure alignment on project scope and deliverables.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of significant experience in a technical role with a focus on project engineering.
- Proven success in managing large-scale, million-dollar projects simultaneously.
- Strong expertise in project management, including the ability to organize and execute complex initiatives involving vendors and internal teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers and thrive in a cross-functional environment.
- A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to multitask effectively and meet rigorous deadlines.
- A solid foundation in change management and the ability to map requirements into standard technical solutions.
- Willingness to relocate to a Shearer’s site and travel up to 50% for offsite projects.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in project management or process engineering within the food, dairy, pharmaceutical, or consumer products industries.
- Professional PMP certification.
