We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our IT Operations team in Salt Lake City, Utah, to help maintain the robust infrastructure that makes this life-changing work possible.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Network Operations Engineer to join us on a contract basis. In this role, you will be the backbone of our technical environment, ensuring that our complex network infrastructure remains reliable, secure, and high-performing. You will work across both our on-premises data centers and our multi-cloud environments, including GCP and AWS. This position is vital to our daily operations, as you will be responsible for managing the systems that allow our scientists and engineers to push the boundaries of what is possible in the biotech space.
A day in the life
- You will oversee the daily administration and maintenance of our core network and security infrastructure, which includes managing firewalls, VPNs, DNS/DHCP services, and our multi-cloud network environments.
- You will proactively monitor our network performance and capacity to ensure we consistently meet our service level objectives, while also leading the diagnosis and resolution of complex connectivity issues.
- You will collaborate with our IT Engineering team to provide operational input on new network solutions and maintain detailed documentation, including network diagrams and operational runbooks, to keep our systems running smoothly.
Who you are
You are a seasoned professional with at least 8 years of hands-on experience in network operations within enterprise environments. You have a deep understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite and are comfortable working with dynamic routing protocols like BGP and OSPF. Your technical toolkit includes:
- Extensive experience managing network hardware from vendors such as Cisco and Juniper.
- Strong proficiency in network security, including firewall administration and site-to-site VPN configuration.
- Practical experience using automation tools like Ansible or scripting languages like Python to streamline configuration and monitoring tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to solve complex technical problems under pressure.
