As a subsidiary of Fortrea Holdings, Inc., we operate globally with teams across the United States, Europe, and Asia, all working together to support life-saving research.
The opportunity
We are looking for a skilled Network Administrator to join our IT team in San Francisco. Reporting to the Manager of IT Operations, you will be a vital part of our infrastructure strategy. You will help us maintain, expand, and support our complex network environment, which includes everything from firewalls and routers to servers and cloud applications. This is a hands-on role where you will drive initiatives to improve our system reliability and help shape the future of our technical roadmap. Please note that this position is based in our San Francisco office, and you will be expected to work on-site at least four days per week.
A day in the life
- You will architect and maintain secure, highly available workloads that span across our on-premises infrastructure, AWS, and Azure environments.
- You will serve as a primary point of contact for network administration, managing critical components like VLANs, subnets, firewalls, and routing tables to ensure seamless connectivity.
- You will proactively monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues from endpoint to endpoint, ensuring that our systems remain stable and efficient for our users.
Who you are
You are a mid-level professional with a strong background in hybrid infrastructure. You communicate clearly in English, both when explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and when collaborating with your fellow engineers. Your background includes the following:
- Three to five years of experience in network, systems, or cloud administration.
- At least three years of hands-on experience with Cisco technologies, including ASA, site-to-site VPN, and Catalyst switches.
- Deep knowledge of routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and network security protocols.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Bash, PERL, or Batch.
- A Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science, though we are happy to consider equivalent professional experience.
- Professional certifications like CCNA or CCNP are highly valued.
- The physical ability to lift or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Why you'll love it here
Joining our team means becoming part of a mission-driven company that values innovation and reliability. You will have the chance to work with a diverse, global team and contribute to technology that directly supports clinical trial success. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative environment where you can grow your skills in a fast-paced setting, working with modern cloud and on-premises tools to solve complex challenges.
