Our flagship product, Callisto, simplifies the extraction of vital biological information, making it as easy as pressing a button. By sitting at the intersection of science and engineering, we are increasing accessibility to genetic data and speeding up processing times for scientists worldwide. We are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our innovative team, where curiosity is encouraged and every team member makes a tangible impact. This is a full-time, on-site role based at our Seaport office in Boston, Massachusetts.
Key outcomes
- Lead the continuous development of the Callisto sample preparation system by owning system-level requirements and driving solutions that integrate mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.
- Manage and mentor a team of five or more mechanical and systems engineers while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Execute cross-functional projects, including accelerated life cycle testing and the development of calibration suites for motion, thermal, and electrowetting systems.
- Oversee sustaining engineering efforts, such as performing failure analysis on field-reported issues and translating those insights into design improvements for current and future platforms.
- Serve as a primary liaison between engineering, product management, and customer service teams to provide strategic updates and navigate project challenges.
- Define long-term engineering initiatives, including the roadmap for our next-generation systems and future innovation strategies.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a proven history of leading and developing engineering teams in a management capacity.
- Expertise in managing system-level requirements to drive complex product development and manufacturing processes.
- Strong project management skills, including proficiency in Agile methodologies and the ability to manage multiple high-impact projects at once.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Fluency in English.
