We’re building machines that turn the open ocean into the world’s cheapest source of clean power. At Panthalassa our nodes harvest energy in the harshest marine conditions, running for years without a single service visit. If you want to help move that technology from prototype to fleet-scale production, this is the seat for you.
Role at a glance
Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Systems is a full-time, mid-level position based on-site in Portland, Oregon. You will sit between our node design team and local fabrication partners, turning first-article builds into repeatable, high-volume processes.
Your impact
- Embed yourself on the shop floor to map every step required to produce core node shapes and structures, then translate those insights into scalable manufacturing strategies.
- Characterize processes and equipment so the design team can make data-driven decisions on cost, materials, and future facility needs while you provide hands-on DFM feedback.
- Help design and commission the pilot line, including any custom fixtures or machines needed to move from low-rate builds to volume production.
What you'll need
A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent hands-on experience, plus at least three years working directly with mechanical or electromechanical hardware. You should be fluent in 3D CAD (Siemens NX preferred), understand GD&T, and have worked with PLM systems. We also look for a self-starter who thrives when scope is broad, communicates clearly across teams, and stays calm and accountable when deadlines tighten. Experience with high-volume equipment in automotive, wind, oil & gas, or similar industries is a plus, as is background in pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, or heavy steel forming.
Perks and compensation
Cash compensation ranges from $85,000 to $150,000. You will also receive meaningful equity, flexible paid time off, and a benefits package that includes 100 % company-paid gold-level health, vision, and disability coverage for you and your dependents, plus partial dental coverage and the ability to contribute to 401(k), health FSA, and dependent-care FSA accounts. Relocation assistance is available if you need to move to Portland.
