We are looking for a Materials Engineer II to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity. At Boston Materials, we specialize in creating advanced materials that offer the durability and conductivity of metal while maintaining the lightweight nature of plastic. Our unique technology, which utilizes vertically aligned carbon fibers, helps our partners overcome significant material-level challenges in sectors ranging from semiconductors to hydrogen fuel cells and hypersonic flight. We are seeking a dedicated professional who is eager to push the boundaries of what is possible and contribute to our mission of driving global technological advancements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of new composite materials by managing the full cycle of experimentation, sample preparation, testing, and detailed data analysis.
- Collaborate with our mechanical engineering team to innovate and refine novel processing techniques and testing methodologies.
- Document your findings through technical reports, presentations, and standard operating procedures to ensure clear communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in materials engineering, specifically within design and testing environments.
- A deep understanding of material fundamentals, including how mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties interact.
- Proven ability to perform experimental design and complex data analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to explain technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks is considered a significant asset.
