What is this role?

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our Platform Engineering group. This is a full-time, executive-level position that offers the flexibility of remote work from anywhere. In this role, you will lead a talented team of backend engineers focused on building the high-performance services that power our e-commerce experience. You will have the autonomy to shape our technical strategy and ensure our platform remains resilient, scalable, and capable of delivering joy to our members with every interaction.

What will you do?

• Lead, mentor, and grow a global team of backend developers while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and smart, efficient work.
• Direct a cross-functional pod to drive end-to-end customer experiences, collaborating closely with product management, analytics, and design teams.
• Architect and maintain scalable REST and JSON API services, ensuring they provide low latency and high reliability as our member base continues to grow.

To succeed in this role, you should bring a deep background in engineering leadership and a passion for building robust, consumer-facing systems. We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

• Over 5 years of experience leading engineering teams and 10+ years of experience developing high-traffic, responsive consumer applications.
• Strong technical proficiency with Python, PHP, Java, and Golang, along with extensive experience using AWS services like EKS and Lambda.
• Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, NoSQL and relational databases, Linux, and Kafka.
• A proven ability to manage performance, scaling, and observability in complex, n-tier environments.
• Excellent communication skills in English and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive team environment.
