Manager, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at Evidation

The role

We are looking for an experienced Manager of Software Development Engineering in Test (SDET) to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a leadership position for a cross-functional expert who enjoys balancing high-level strategy with hands-on technical work. You will be responsible for standardizing our test automation practices and fostering a culture of excellence. We view our SDETs as software engineers first, meaning you will be expected to dive deep into complex issues and drive technical solutions rather than simply reporting bugs.

Core responsibilities

• Own the architecture and strategy for our test and quality automation systems across the entire organization.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of SDETs by promoting continuous learning and providing regular performance feedback.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to develop and execute an automation roadmap that supports our broader product goals.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should bring a strong background in both engineering and leadership:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 8 years of software engineering experience, with a heavy focus on test automation for enterprise and consumer applications.
• At least 5 years of experience in a management or leadership capacity.
• Technical proficiency in Ruby and JavaScript, with additional experience in Python and SQL being a plus.
• Deep expertise in automation methodologies for mobile, API, cloud, and browser-based environments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, distributed remote environment.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as OWASP, ISO, or SOC2 is considered a significant advantage.

Compensation and benefits

The base salary range for this position is $129,400 to $174,000. In addition to your base pay, we offer a comprehensive package designed to support your well-being and professional growth:
