The opportunity
We are searching for a Manager of Mechanical Engineering to join our R&D team at our Bedford, Massachusetts office. This is a newly created position where you will lead a talented group of mechanical and product engineers. You will play a pivotal role in delivering disruptive innovation, guiding our team as they develop electromechanical stapling instrumentation from the initial concept phase all the way through to production and the full product lifecycle.
A day in the life
- You will provide hands-on technical project management and leadership to a team of 3 to 5 engineers, ensuring that every project meets our high standards for performance and quality.
- You will drive daily operations by identifying and removing roadblocks, managing resource allocation, and solving complex technical challenges to keep our development goals on track.
- You will take ownership of the Design History File and all essential product documentation, ensuring that our processes remain fully compliant with quality systems while collaborating across departments to launch new products.
Who you are
You are a skilled professional with a strong background in engineering and a passion for leadership. To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field of study.
- At least 8 years of professional experience, including a proven ability to lead development teams through complex technical projects.
- A demonstrated history of taking products from the early concept stage through to successful production transfer.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to empower a team, delegate effectively, and manage multiple priorities to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, including a talent for root cause analysis and analytical thinking.
- Fluency in English and a high level of attention to detail.
