At DroneDeploy, we empower field teams across industries like construction, energy, and agriculture by combining robotic automation, AI agents, and a unified reality capture platform. We are a mission-driven team dedicated to simplifying field operations and improving safety through the power of visual intelligence. As a mostly remote-first organization, we pride ourselves on a culture of innovation, support, and professional growth. We are looking for a Manager of IT Engineering to join us in a player-coach capacity, helping our distributed workforce stay productive, secure, and ready to scale.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the IT Engineering function by balancing hands-on technical execution with team mentorship, prioritization, and operational oversight.
- Manage identity and SaaS lifecycles across platforms like Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, and Atlassian, while using scripting and automation to streamline onboarding and offboarding.
- Drive our internal AI tooling strategy by enabling employees with tools like Claude Cowork and deploying MCP servers to create sustainable, automated workflows.
What you'll bring
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:
- At least 7 years of experience in IT or IT engineering, with a strong background in identity management, endpoint administration, and SaaS operations.
- Proven experience in a leadership or mentorship role, with a focus on raising operational standards within a team.
- Hands-on proficiency with identity platforms like Okta and MDM solutions for macOS fleets.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, BASH, or Zsh to build automation rather than relying solely on manual console work.
- A solid understanding of SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance controls and audit readiness.
- Experience using AI tools in your daily workflow and a passion for integrating these technologies into IT operations.
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to thrive in a documentation-heavy, remote environment.
- Fluency in English.
What you'll get
We are committed to supporting your well-being and professional journey through a variety of benefits:
- Remote work flexibility with a focus on US-based collaboration.
- Flexible hours and generous paid time off to ensure you can recharge when needed.
- Comprehensive medical insurance plans.
- Maternity and paternity leave to support you during important life moments.
- Dedicated resources for professional development to help you build new skills and grow your career.
