Machine Learning Internship at Speechmatics

The role

We are looking for a student to join us as a Machine Learning Intern on a full-time basis. This is an ideal position for an aspiring scientist who wants to accelerate their career and gain hands-on experience in production-level machine learning. Based in the United Kingdom, this role follows a hybrid work model, balancing the benefits of remote flexibility with the synergy of in-person collaboration at our offices.

Core responsibilities

• Develop and ship new products, such as Speaker ID, by managing the full lifecycle from model training to production deployment.
• Engineer and optimize data preprocessing pipelines capable of handling trillions of words across thousands of cores.
• Scale self-supervised learning models across hundreds of GPUs in the cloud to improve our world-leading accuracy on challenging audio.

Skills and experience

We are looking for candidates who possess a mix of technical ability and a strong desire to learn. You should have experience in the following areas:

• Current enrollment in a STEM degree program.
• Proficiency in Python, with additional experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or HPC clusters being highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with tools for building large-scale data pipelines and model training.
• A portfolio demonstrating 1 or 2 personal machine learning or software engineering projects completed outside of your academic coursework.
