Are you ready to help transform the future of global energy? At VEIR, we are developing cutting-edge High Temperature Superconductor transmission lines to make clean, reliable, and affordable power accessible to everyone. By overcoming the traditional barriers to transmission expansion, we are enabling the world to tap into the most cost-effective renewable energy sources available. We invite you to join our Product Team and contribute to a mission that truly matters for the planet.
What you bring
As a Lead Substation Applications Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in a full-time capacity, helping us bridge the gap between complex technical engineering and commercial strategy. Based in the United States with a hybrid work arrangement, you will be instrumental in the lifecycle of our superconducting products. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Designing protection and control relaying applications specifically for our HTS power line hardware.
- Collaborating with our commercial and engineering teams to integrate protection, control, and monitoring functionalities into customer systems.
- Developing robust protection strategies and hardware configurations to ensure maximum reliability during grid fault conditions.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who possesses a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program, with a focus on power systems. You should have at least 5 years of experience in electric power system planning or substation protection and control, along with 2 years of experience using fault simulation tools like ASPEN or CAPE. Proficiency in English is required, as is a deep understanding of IEEE, NERC, NESC, and IEC standards. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who excels at solving complex problems, communicates clearly across all levels of an organization, and leads through influence to drive results in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
What we offer
We are committed to supporting our team members both professionally and personally as we work toward our decarbonization goals. We offer a comprehensive package designed to provide security and flexibility:
- Stock options to ensure you share in the success of our mission.
- An Employee Assistance Program to support your overall well-being.
- A hybrid work model that balances collaborative office time with flexibility.
How to Apply
If you are passionate about grid modernization and want to apply your expertise to help us scale the next generation of power transmission, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to join our team and help us build a more sustainable energy future.
