Lead Software Engineer at MediaAlpha

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will serve as a cornerstone of our engineering leadership, taking full ownership of our system architecture, design, and strategic implementation. You will collaborate closely with business partners and fellow leads to shape our product roadmaps while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement across our development lifecycle.

Key outcomes

• Take full ownership of the software development lifecycle for our high-performance ad serving platforms.
• Design and scale robust systems capable of processing tens of thousands of high-value transactions daily.
• Develop clean, maintainable Perl code within a Linux environment, utilizing Amazon EC2, S3, CloudFront, and Route 53.
• Manage the ongoing maintenance and support of the MediaAlpha Exchange product.
• Collaborate directly with stakeholders to define product features and execute successful integrations.
• Provide mentorship to fellow engineers and resolve complex technical challenges to ensure a stable operating environment.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional experience in software development.
• Proficiency in software engineering methodologies and a commitment to high-quality coding standards.
• Advanced SQL skills with a deep understanding of database and query optimization.
• Experience working in Unix or Linux environments, with the ability to adapt quickly to our Perl-based technology stack.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
• A self-motivated approach, comfort with ambiguity, and a proven ability to solve problems independently.
• A Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in computer science or a related technical field.

Compensation

We offer a competitive base salary range of $140,000 to $220,000 per year, depending on your specific experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, we provide a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and long-term success:
