The opportunity

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our E-commerce and Partnerships team. In this role, you will be the driving force behind a talented group of frontend and backend developers. You will act as the bridge between our technical execution and product vision, working closely with product managers to translate business goals into high-quality software. This is a hybrid position based in the San Francisco Bay Area, requiring you to be in the office two days per week to collaborate with your team and support our mission.

A day in the life

• You will guide and inspire your team of developers, providing mentorship to help them grow their careers while ensuring our software systems are built to a high standard.
• You will collaborate with designers and product managers to plan roadmaps, translate requirements into technical specifications, and communicate complex trade-offs to stakeholders.
• You will manage the full lifecycle of our engineering talent, from interviewing and hiring new team members to conducting performance reviews and setting individual development goals.

Who you are

You are a seasoned leader with at least 8 years of experience building complex software systems and at least 2 years of experience in people management. You communicate clearly in English and are comfortable navigating ambiguity to find solutions. You possess a strong background in backend development using Python or similar object-oriented languages. Most importantly, you are a natural mentor who takes ownership of your team's outcomes and remains focused even when facing pressure or setbacks. You hold a degree in Computer Science, mathematics, physics, or have equivalent technical experience.
