At Scalapay, we are building one of Europe’s most ambitious fintech teams by fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning. We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Merchant domain in Italy, where you will help us scale our buy-now-pay-later solutions by designing tools that empower our merchant partners.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for our Merchant domain team while driving the design and development of merchant-facing products.
Build responsive and intuitive front-end interfaces for our merchant dashboards and management tools.
Develop clean and well-structured RESTful APIs to connect merchant systems with our core platform.
Mentor fellow engineers and establish high standards for full-stack development and code quality.
Collaborate closely with product and design teams to improve merchant onboarding and integration workflows.
Ensure system reliability through rigorous testing, troubleshooting, and CI/CD automation.
Take end-to-end ownership of projects within an autonomous, Agile environment.

Must-haves

Over 8 years of professional software development experience.
Deep expertise in JavaScript, Node.js, and relational databases.
Strong proficiency in React and modern frameworks like Next.js.
Proven track record of leading software engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
A solid understanding of CI/CD tooling and modern front-end performance optimization.
Professional fluency in English.
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Nice-to-haves

Experience building B2B platforms or merchant-facing solutions.
A background in Fintech or payments-related industries.
