At Swissblock, we specialize in developing sophisticated algorithmic trading strategies for both cryptocurrency and traditional financial markets. We are a self-funded, profitable international firm that prides itself on a flat hierarchy and a collaborative culture. Our team is currently scaling our production-grade trading platform, which handles everything from data ingestion to order execution. We are looking for a Lead Quant Engineer to join us in our Zug, Switzerland office to guide our engineering efforts as we expand into new instruments and higher-frequency execution.
Key outcomes
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Senior Quant Engineers to ensure the timely delivery of projects aligned with our company roadmap.
- Translate research prototypes into robust, production-grade trading services using Python.
- Own the engineering team backlog and drive technical initiatives from initial concept through to production deployment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, assess project complexity, and plan development workloads.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize existing trading strategies while influencing the technical direction of new system services.
- Deepen your expertise in financial instruments to better support our quantitative research goals.
Requirements
- An M.Sc. in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- Proven experience in the design and development of algorithmic or quantitative trading strategies.
- A strong background in traditional finance or digital assets.
- Advanced proficiency in Python programming.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design principles.
- Practical experience working with relational, NoSQL, and time-series databases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A proactive, analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex problems and maintaining high standards for code quality.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience acting as a development team lead.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, specifically within GCP.
- Proficiency in Unix-based systems, containerization, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with event-driven, asynchronous distributed systems.
- Knowledge of message brokers such as Kafka, NATS, or MQ, as well as REST APIs and WebSockets.
