Loop Internet is a rapidly growing regional fiber optic provider dedicated to connecting hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses with high-speed infrastructure. We are currently looking for a Lead Network Engineer to join our team in the United States to help us design, build, and maintain the fiber optic networks that power our communities.
Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain our core transport infrastructure while assisting with cutting-edge access network designs.
- Research and document requirements for hardware and software to ensure network stability and functionality.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert, providing leadership to junior engineers and acting as a technical project lead.
- Design and integrate new backbone hardware for both new and existing markets.
- Manage vendor relationships to drive bug fixes, code upgrades, and necessary development.
- Provide escalation support for complex network data and security issues.
- Create detailed equipment installation specifications and drawings for our field technicians.
- Oversee network service provisioning for customers and manage parts inventory.
- Ensure all network policies, procedures, and site records remain accurate and up to date.
Must-haves
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior network engineering role or 2 years as a lead.
- Expert-level proficiency with major internet routing protocols, including BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, and OSPF.
- Extensive background in network analysis and robust troubleshooting techniques.
- Deep understanding of IP networking fundamentals and protocol applications.
- Experience working with circuit inventory systems and various equipment assets.
- Proven ability to interpret complex technical documentation, such as vendor manuals and deployment white papers.
- In-depth knowledge of major router platforms, specifically Nokia, Arista, or Juniper hardware.
- Fluency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- 3 or more years of experience with Asterisk.
- 3 or more years of experience in voice transport and routing.
- Familiarity with Stir/Shaken protocols and VoIP monitoring software.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex voice-related issues.
