Lead Mobile Engineer at Cape

Cape is a privacy-focused cellular network provider founded in 2022 by veterans from Palantir and Anduril. We are dedicated to helping citizens and national security professionals regain control of their personal data through innovative mobile technology, backed by top-tier investors like Andreessen Horowitz. We are seeking a Lead Mobile Engineer to join our remote team and help us build a new standard for wireless privacy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of five mobile engineers, fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture.
• Manage the full hiring lifecycle to scale our mobile engineering department with diverse, skilled talent.
• Define the technical strategy and architectural standards for our iOS and Android platforms.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams to plan and deliver secure, high-quality mobile features.
• Maintain consistent product experiences across platforms while adhering to mobile best practices.
• Improve team workflows and processes to ensure reliable, scalable, and efficient development cycles.

Must-haves

• At least 5 years of experience in Android development and 2 years of experience in iOS development.
• Proven proficiency in Swift and Kotlin.
• Over 2 years of experience in engineering management, specifically focused on coaching and team development.
• Deep understanding of the Android ecosystem, including architecture, lifecycle, and services.
• Hands-on experience with modern tools such as Compose, Room, and Hilt.
• A strong background in asynchronous processing and Kotlin coroutines.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Practical experience with gRPC.
• Knowledge of cryptography and trusted execution environments.
• Familiarity with carrier-specific technologies, including eSIM, eUICC, and 4G/5G cellular standards.
