At Flipdish, we are looking for an experienced Lead IT Operations Engineer to join our team in Karachi. As an Irish unicorn valued at over $1 billion, we provide a comprehensive technology ecosystem that empowers independent restaurants to compete with major chains. This role is a hands-on, technical position focused on systems administration, security, and automation rather than end-user support. You will work closely with our Head of IT in Dublin and our growing local team to design, secure, and scale our global infrastructure while providing mentorship and technical leadership.
Key outcomes
- Take ownership of all IT and infrastructure aspects for the Karachi office, including network configuration, Wi-Fi management, and physical site operations.
- Manage and secure critical company-wide systems such as Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, and Notion by setting clear standards and guardrails.
- Administer identity and access management, including the enforcement of SSO, MFA, and least-privilege policies.
- Lead vulnerability management and patching efforts across our entire device fleet.
- Design and implement security and compliance automation that aligns with CIS and SOC2 frameworks.
- Develop and maintain scripts using Python, PowerShell, and BASH to drive process efficiency and automation.
- Collaborate with our InfoSec team on monitoring, incident response, and reporting.
- Contribute to the broader IT strategy and roadmap planning in partnership with the Head of IT.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in a 3rd line or systems engineering role, preferably within a fast-scaling environment.
- Strong technical proficiency with MacOS and Windows, alongside experience using endpoint management tools.
- Advanced knowledge of identity and access management within Okta and Google Workspace.
- A solid understanding of Zero Trust principles and security enforcement in environments without traditional domain infrastructure.
- Experience with networking fundamentals, including LAN, WAN, and secure connectivity.
- Proven ability to automate workflows using APIs or infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with AI prompt engineering and a willingness to experiment with AI tools to automate routine tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and observability tools like Datadog.
- Experience with SIEM tools or endpoint monitoring solutions.
- Background in building and deploying Windows images or provisioning pipelines.
- Understanding of compliance frameworks such as SOC2 or ISO 27001.
- Relevant security certifications, such as CompTIA Security+ or SSCP.
Compensation
We believe in fostering a transparent and collaborative environment where our employees are trusted to define our culture. We prioritize output and team energy over attendance tracking and provide a supportive space for you to grow your career. While we do not have a specific salary range to disclose, we offer the opportunity to work with a globally distributed team in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
