Details:
Salary: £70,000 - £90,000
Location: Hybrid working, up to 2 days a week in North Bristol.
Security Clearance: Must be eligible for DV clearance
About the role:
As the technical leader of the IT team, you will provide team leadership, set the technical direction, and deliver hands-on incident resolution, ongoing maintenance, and change delivery. The Lead Infrastructure Engineer applies authoritative and deep technical expertise, along with the ability to translate cross-departmental business needs into technical tasks. You will also lead from the front, demonstrating what good looks like to the rest of the IT team and work with the Delivery & Service Manager to provide a first-class service.
Responsibilities:
- Defining and maintaining TwinStream’s corporate IT Strategy in consultation with the company’s leadership team.
- Assume technical ownership of the configuration of the IT estate from maintaining the AWS/M365 accounts through to managing mobile devices, laptops etc.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to the IT team.
- Working with the Service Manager and the IT team to maintain & continuously improve TwinStream’s IT capability as an internally delivered Managed Service.
- Hands-on resolution of IT incidents and problems when required.
- Engage with departmental stakeholders (Delivery, InfoSec, GRC, People, Finance etc.) to understand and analyse requirements so that IT initiatives can be created and added to the change backlog.
- Working with the delivery manager and the IT team to execute against the IT Change Roadmap in order to deliver evolving corporate outcomes in line with the IT Strategy.
- Following a “Kanban” methodology to deliver against the prioritised backlog.
- Defining, maintaining and regularly testing an IT disaster recovery plan.
- Suggesting process improvements and efficiencies to the delivery of IT support & Change.

A proven track record in…
- Microsoft 365 Administration – managing and configuring Teams, SharePoint, Office apps, and Power Automate workflows for security, compliance, and user experience.
- Microsoft Entra ID Administration – configuring identity and access management, application integrations, and endpoint security.
- AWS and Azure – configuration of accounts, networking services, DNS management and security monitoring.
- Infrastructure as Code – using Microsoft365DSC, Terraform and similar tooling to perform configuration and deployments using code.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery – designing and managing backup strategies, recovery objectives, and tabletop recovery exercises.
- SaaS Deployment & Support – evaluating and integrating a wide range of SaaS tools to ensure they are compliant with corporate policies.
- Stakeholder engagement – clear communication with both business stakeholders and a technical engineering community.
Desirable Skills:
- Background understanding of Information Security practices and tooling, including awareness of ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus.
- Experience with working with public sector customers.
- Linux and Windows system administration.
