This is a 3-month contract role.
As Lead Front-End Engineer at PublicSquare you will be part of a group that delivers innovative solutions for our company. We are a startup focused on Connecting freedom-loving Americans with local community, reliable information, and businesses that share their values.
The Lead Front-End Engineer at PublicSquare is responsible for helping oversee technical aspects of the mobile and web apps. We are looking for an exceptionally skilled Lead Engineer Front-End with a solid technical background and leadership skills, able to work in a fast-paced environment using the latest front-end development practices.
Front-End Engineers play a significant role on our engineering team, developing the user facing applications for our company’s websites, functional and mobile web applications. Front-End Engineers collaborate openly in an agile environment with other members of engineering and User Experience disciplines, QA, Creative Designers, and Product Managers. They participate in our UI development processes by establishing and documenting development standards and best practices for usage across all of our web/mobile applications. You will work with TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Tailwind, Capacitor, and other technologies.
Role Summary/Major tenets of the role:
- Will work with the Development, QA, DevOps, and PM teams.
- Will be responsible for executing the development roadmap and optimization of cost, reliability, and scalability of our web/mobile tech stack.
- Clear communicator and assist in the overall performance of the teams.
Selected Highlights/Responsibilities
- Partner with the Product and Design teams to lead the build, creation, and delivery of products, features, and functionality.
- Consult with other department heads as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and effectiveness.
- Supervise development best practices and infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency.
- Architect and influence system architecture around security, scalability, availability, and maintainability.
- Provide production support and operational leadership for our website, internal website tools, and our mobile apps (iOS and Android).
- Ensure technologies are used efficiently, profitably, and securely.
- Evaluate and implement new frameworks and design patterns as needed.
- Pair with other engineers to accelerate development and release of new features and capabilities. Mentor and develop other team members.
- Participate in a focused, experienced, energetic team on a rapid, agile development schedule.
Requirements
- 10+ years experience in software development, including a background as a software architect, or lead developer.
- Experience in fast-paced, highly innovative SaaS startup and scale-up companies.
- Leadership and organizational abilities. Proven experience as a lead engineer, architect, or similar leadership role.
- Lead and contribute significant guidance to the technical direction of engineering organizations through growth and scaling over a number of years.
- Ability to actively communicate, inspire and motivate staff.
- Partners effectively and collaboratively with the Product, Sales, and Client Services team
- High “EQ” - good listening skills, clear and direct communicator with very high integrity.
- Honest and fair with both their team members and their colleagues.
- Ability to think and act strategically and proactively.
- Excellent communication skills. Strong writing and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of technology trends to build a strategy
- Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
- Problem-solving, solution-oriented aptitude
- B.S. in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Data Science, or similar.
