At Project Healthy Minds, we are tackling one of the most pressing social challenges of our generation: the growing mental health crisis. As a non-profit startup, we are building the world’s first digital marketplace designed to make finding mental health services as seamless as booking a flight or a restaurant reservation. Our mission is supported by a diverse group of influential leaders, ranging from tech entrepreneurs and clinicians to artists and policymakers. We are looking for a passionate individual to help us scale this vision and drive meaningful social change.
About the Role
We are searching for an experienced Lead Engineer to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity. In this role, you will act as a key thought partner, helping us define our technical architecture and engineering culture. You will be instrumental in building out our platform, ensuring that our infrastructure is secure, scalable, and capable of supporting our mission to connect people with the care they need.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction of our platform by collaborating with product and design teams to deliver robust, high-quality functionality.
- Establish and refine our engineering practices, including setting OKRs, fostering a strong team culture, and overseeing the hiring of both full-time and contract talent.
- Serve as a technical ambassador for Project Healthy Minds by contributing to our thought leadership through blog posts and speaking engagements.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should bring a strong background in software development and a passion for the mental health space. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
- Over 10 years of programming experience, including a proven track record as a full-stack developer with deep expertise in TypeScript or Python.
- Proficiency in building web applications using NextJS.
- Strong knowledge of database technologies, data warehousing, and cloud administration, preferably within Google Cloud.
- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines and utilizing testing frameworks like Jest and Playwright.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Location
This position is based in New York City and requires you to work from our office.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $225,000 to $250,000, depending on your specific experience and skills. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to support your well-being and professional growth:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Life and disability insurance.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
