Lead Engineer at DeleteMe

DeleteMe is a rapidly expanding SaaS organization dedicated to restoring personal privacy in an era of unprecedented data collection. We provide intuitive tools for both consumers and businesses to manage their digital footprints and control who has access to their personal information. As a profitable company with an eight-figure balance sheet and backing from major venture firms, we are building a sustainable business that champions data security and digital freedom. We are currently looking for a Lead Engineer to join our team in Bengaluru to guide our Site Integration and Platform Engineering efforts.

Key outcomes

• Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of 4 to 6 engineers, acting as their scrum master while fostering professional development.
• Oversee the design and maintenance of scalable software systems while coordinating efforts across our geographically distributed teams.
• Drive our technical strategy by evaluating new technologies and influencing the evolution of our engineering stack.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Platform Engineering and product managers to ensure our systems meet reliability and performance standards.
• Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous process improvement within our engineering organization.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of professional experience in cloud software development, with a proven track record in a team lead or engineering management role.
• Deep expertise in Agile and DevOps principles, along with a strong grasp of microservice architecture.
• Comprehensive knowledge of distributed systems, horizontal scalability, and API-oriented design.
• Proficiency in Ruby and a fundamental understanding of JavaScript (Node.js).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with global teams.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related field is considered a plus.

Preferred qualifications

• Practical experience with web scraping and browser automation tools such as Puppeteer or Playwright.
• Familiarity with data analysis languages and frameworks, including Java, Python, or R.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining flexibility.

Compensation

We offer a hybrid work environment to support our team members. This role is based in our Bengaluru office, with a requirement to be on-site at least 3 days per week, though we provide flexibility to accommodate collaboration with our North American and European colleagues.
