The opportunity

We are seeking a Lead Engineer to join our team in a brand-new capacity. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives in the early stages of development and enjoys navigating the ambiguity that comes with building something from the ground up. You will serve as a technical anchor, balancing hands-on development with the mentorship of our engineering team. Your work will span the entire software lifecycle, from infrastructure configuration to high-level system design, ensuring that our technical output remains consistent, scalable, and high-quality as we scale.

A day in the life

• You will write clean, efficient code while simultaneously managing infrastructure and deployment pipelines to keep our systems running smoothly.
• You will mentor and empower fellow engineers, acting as a bridge between different departments to ensure alignment on product goals and technical standards.
• You will participate in critical architecture and system design discussions, focusing on long-term maintainability and performance in a fast-paced environment.

Who you are

You are an experienced engineer who is comfortable with change and possesses the stakeholder management skills necessary to succeed in a fast-moving business. You communicate clearly in English and are ready to work on-site with us in the United Kingdom five days a week. Your technical background includes the following:

• At least 5 years of experience working with React.js or Next.js.
• At least 5 years of experience with Node.js frameworks such as Express.js or Fastify.
• At least 3 years of experience with Python, including frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Strong proficiency in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• A deep understanding of agile methodologies, along with practical experience using Git and Jira.
• A commitment to documentation, testing, and collaborative QA processes.
