Lead Engineer at Envato-2

As a certified B Corp, we blend purpose with profit and are currently looking for a Lead Engineer to join our platform team, which focuses on the search technology powering our flagship product, Elements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with delivery teams to shape, critique, and refine technical designs.
• Guide the evolution of our platforms while maintaining a strong focus on business outcomes.
• Educate team members on emerging technologies and relevant industry approaches.
• Maintain a holistic view of our technical ecosystem and its impact on your area of influence.
• Coordinate with other technical leaders to ensure alignment, cooperation, and clear communication.
• Balance commercial needs with technical decisions to solve complex problems.
• Develop and maintain a technical roadmap that provides a clear framework for decision-making.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and direction to developers and fellow technical leaders.
• Lead the delivery of mid-to-large scale projects involving cross-functional teams.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and roadblocks.

Must-haves

• Approximately 10 or more years of technical experience, while remaining highly hands-on.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and operating large-scale web applications.
• Strong familiarity with our primary tech stack, including Ruby on Rails and Elixir, with some experience in React.
• Experience developing search technology within a digital product environment.
• Ability to present high-level technical architecture to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
• A high level of professional self-awareness and integrity.
• Fluency in English.
