The opportunity
We are looking for a Lead Engineer to join our team and help bring our vision to life. This role is perfect for a resourceful, low-ego leader who wants to build software that expands renewable energy access to millions. You will play a pivotal role in our engineering organization, balancing high-quality code with the need for rapid iteration. You will work within a hybrid, remote-first environment, collaborating closely with product, design, and analytics teams to solve complex problems in a fast-paced, mission-driven atmosphere.
A day in the life
- You will design and develop robust, scalable back-end systems while building complex APIs that securely connect our services.
- You will create intuitive, high-performance front-end applications using modern frameworks to provide a seamless experience for our users.
- You will mentor junior engineers, provide thoughtful code reviews, and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
Who you are
You are an experienced engineer with a passion for sustainability and a desire to drive a clean-energy future. You communicate complex technical concepts clearly and have a proven ability to architect and deliver large-scale projects. You are comfortable working across the full stack and bring a collaborative spirit to everything you do.
Your background and skills:
- Over 6 years of experience in software engineering, specifically with high-availability web applications.
- Proficiency in Ruby, JavaScript, TypeScript, and SQL.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, Apollo, React, and NextJS.
- Technical familiarity with Postgres, Docker, AWS, and CloudFormation.
- Strong ability to coach team members and provide empathetic, constructive feedback.
- Fluency in English.
