Lead Engineer at Jasper

Jasper Health is a digital navigation and coaching platform dedicated to improving the lives of individuals navigating cancer and their caregivers. We are a team of experts from the healthcare, technology, and consumer industries, all working toward the goal of making cancer care a more human experience. Following a successful 31 million dollar total funding effort backed by investors like General Catalyst and Human Capital, we are expanding our team to meet the needs of health plans and patients alike. We are currently seeking a Lead Engineer to work in a full-time, remote capacity to help us scale our impact.

Key outcomes

• Develop and optimize our platform, web, and mobile applications using cloud-native technologies.
• Manage the full technology stack, including Python, Postgres, Redis, and Flutter.
• Architect and maintain scalable, high-availability APIs and systems.
• Lead technical design and implementation for both new product launches and existing feature enhancements.
• Mentor and manage software engineers by providing code reviews, technical guidance, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with product and project managers to drive team success through defined OKRs and KPIs.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for our code, architecture, and technical operations.
• Integrate with third-party platforms to deliver industry-leading healthcare solutions.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in software and database development.
• Minimum of 3 years working with cloud-based infrastructures, specifically GCP.
• At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or management role.
• Expertise in the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, source management, and testing.
• Proven ability to lead teams that balance speed and quality while maintaining high security standards.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Authorization to work in the United States and the ability to pass a background check.

Preferred qualifications

• Three or more years of experience with modern frameworks and languages such as Python, Flutter, Django, and Flask.
• Additional years of experience in technical leadership or engineering management.
• Deep familiarity with Agile methodologies and domain-driven design.
• Experience with Kubernetes and other DevOps tools like Docker, GitHub, or DataDog.
• Background in healthcare technology and knowledge of the FHIR standard.
