At Stellic, we are on a mission to transform the higher education landscape by providing a unified SaaS platform that helps students navigate their degree requirements and achieve career success. We believe that no student should get lost in the complexities of their academic journey, yet millions currently face hurdles due to outdated tools. By building intuitive, user-friendly software, we empower students to take ownership of their progress while giving advisors and administrators the data-driven insights they need to scale support. We have already partnered with institutions like Cornell College, Ohio State, and the University of Chicago, but our work is just beginning as we continue to grow and improve outcomes for students everywhere.
The role
We are seeking a Lead Engineer to join our Onboarding team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. This is a pivotal role for an experienced professional who wants to shape the future of our platform. As a lead, you will own the end-to-end delivery of our onboarding processes, ensuring that new partner institutions are set up accurately and efficiently. You will work closely with our founders and product managers in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, helping us scale our impact as we move beyond our product-market fit stage.
Core responsibilities
- Design and own the architecture and implementation of new functionality for our internal admin tools to streamline the onboarding experience.
- Build and maintain high-performance data pipelines and scalable APIs that allow for real-time ingestion of data from various institutional systems.
- Drive technical and operational excellence by mentoring other engineers, managing project execution, and implementing automation to reduce engineering dependencies.
Skills and experience
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background and a passion for building systems that scale. You should have the following qualifications:
- At least 6 years of backend-heavy software engineering experience, with a preference for Python proficiency.
- Proven experience building internal tooling and backend admin portals.
- Expertise in managing data pipelines for ingestion from legacy systems or ERPs.
- Experience building and scaling backend systems and APIs using cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of planning and delivering complex technical projects.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with authentication systems, such as SAML, is considered a significant plus.
Compensation and benefits
We are committed to supporting our team members both professionally and personally. By joining us, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
- Generous stock options in a growing Series A startup.
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.
- A 401k plan and commuter benefits.
- A flexible, outcome-based work culture.
- Opportunities to participate in annual international retreats.
How to apply
If you are passionate about using technology to improve the student experience and want to lead critical engineering initiatives at a mission-driven company, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to our team to share your background and interest in the position. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates who share our commitment to innovation and diversity.
