Within our Business Banking division, we provide high-growth companies with the current accounts, payment solutions, and savings tools they need to scale, and we are now seeking a Lead Engineer to guide our Grow squad in delivering intuitive, high-value experiences for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a squad of 4 to 6 full-stack engineers, fostering both their technical growth and professional development.
- Oversee technical delivery while ensuring the team remains focused on clear, impactful goals.
- Architect resilient, distributed systems and break down complex challenges into manageable, incremental deliverables.
- Champion a DevOps culture where the team takes full ownership of the products they build and run.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and designers to translate business needs into high-quality, user-focused outcomes.
- Influence broader platform architecture through pragmatic, forward-thinking decision-making.
- Utilize Generative AI tools to boost team productivity and improve decision-making processes.
Must-haves
- Proven experience in a lead engineering role, with the ability to guide teams through the full software development lifecycle.
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern frontend technologies like TypeScript and React.
- Experience working with cloud-native environments, specifically AWS or GCP.
- Familiarity with data storage solutions including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and BigQuery.
- Expertise in infrastructure and deployment tools such as Terraform, Docker, and GitHub Actions.
- A commitment to testing best practices, including Jest, React Testing Library, and pytest.
- Excellent communication skills in English and a collaborative mindset suited for a hybrid work environment in the United Kingdom.
