Are you an engineer who thrives on solving complex, real-world problems and wants to see your code running on physical hardware in stores across the country? At Panoptyc, we are building an AI-powered retail security and loss prevention platform that serves enterprise customers by processing computer vision directly at the edge. We are growing quickly and looking for someone who is ready to take full ownership of our edge device platform.
What you bring
As a Senior Lead Embedded Systems Engineer, you will work in a full-time, remote capacity from anywhere. You will be the primary architect for our edge infrastructure, ensuring that our hardware deployments are reliable, observable, and efficient. Your work will directly impact how we handle real-time shrink detection and operational intelligence in uncontrolled retail environments.
- Architect and maintain the entire edge device platform, including deployment pipelines, runtime orchestration, and remote management.
- Integrate and optimize camera systems and AI inference workloads to ensure high performance on constrained hardware like NVIDIA Jetson devices.
- Manage cloud connectivity and fleet-wide configurations using AWS IoT Core to handle remote updates and device health monitoring.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who possesses deep technical expertise and a proactive, hands-on mindset. You should have at least five years of experience working with embedded Linux in production environments. Mastery of systemd, Docker, and C++ or Python is essential for this role. We value candidates who have experience with the Yocto Project and a proven track record of designing systems that account for failure, such as implementing robust reconnection logic and remote recovery automation. You should be fluent in English, comfortable working with NVIDIA Jetson hardware, and eager to leverage AI-assisted coding tools to move quickly. We prioritize engineers who have built things on their own, whether through open source contributions or personal side projects, and who are comfortable with the high level of autonomy found in a fast-paced, small team.
What we offer
We provide a collaborative environment where you can make a significant impact on our core product. Our benefits include:
- The flexibility of fully remote work.
- The opportunity to work on cutting-edge edge AI technology.
- High-leverage responsibilities within a growing, high-output engineering team.
How to Apply
If you are a force of nature who loves Linux and wants to build systems that operate reliably in the real world, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to our team to share your experience, your background with embedded systems, and any personal projects or open source work you are particularly proud of. We look forward to learning more about how you can contribute to our mission.
