Lead Data Engineer at MyPass Global

We are currently building a global credentialing platform to foster safer and more agile workplaces. As we continue to expand our international presence, we are looking for a talented Lead Data Engineer to join our team in Australia and help shape the future of our industry.

Key outcomes

• Lead and mentor a dedicated data engineering squad, providing technical guidance and coaching to ensure high-quality output.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure within an agile environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into reliable data solutions, including the development of APIs for data access.
• Write clean, efficient code and perform rigorous peer reviews to maintain high standards of quality and performance.
• Oversee the full data development lifecycle, from initial architecture and planning through to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• Drive the adoption of best practices across the department and contribute to the professional development of team members.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a minimum of 1 year in a leadership role.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, including performance tuning and optimization.
• Strong expertise in dimensional data modeling and a solid understanding of data warehousing and data lake concepts.
• Practical experience with Python or similar programming languages within a data engineering context.
• Proven ability to design and develop RESTful APIs.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms, such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS Redshift, BigQuery, or Azure Synapse.
• A solid understanding of CI/CD workflows and the ability to apply software engineering principles to data tasks.
• Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively within a geographically distributed team.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working with dbt.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
• Exposure to container services like Docker.
• Experience working with graph databases, such as Cypher or openCypher.
