Lead Data Engineer at Rentable

Our team of 100 professionals works entirely remotely across the United States, though we value connection and gather in person three times a year to collaborate and build relationships. Having raised over $30 million from top-tier investors, we maintain a strong balance sheet and a focus on sustainable, rapid growth. We are currently seeking a Lead Data Engineer for a full-time, remote position to help us evolve our data-driven initiatives, including our flagship competitive intelligence platform, ApartmentIQ, which tracks over 30 million units nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Guide and mentor a team of two engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines.
• Oversee project management tasks, including resource allocation, progress monitoring, and the proactive resolution of technical risks.
• Take a hands-on approach to architecting data ingestion processes using asynchronous workers and modern warehousing solutions while maintaining high standards for code quality.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience, ideally within a high-growth B2B SaaS environment.
• A proven history of leadership, with the ability to manage engineers and deliver impactful projects.
• Strong technical proficiency with Python, Ruby, and cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS services like RDS, ECS, S3, and Lambda.
• Experience with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow and dbt, as well as web scraping and data parsing techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup culture.
