Launch Potato is a dynamic digital media company that serves as a leading connector between advertisers and consumers throughout the entire journey from initial awareness to final purchase. We operate with a diverse, international team across more than a dozen countries, and we are currently looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to join our high-performing, entrepreneurial group in a fully remote capacity.

Responsibilities

Partner with our Data Science team to deploy machine learning pipelines and endpoints, ensuring they are scalable and production-ready.
Identify and resolve backend bottlenecks to help our data scientists experiment and iterate more effectively.
Take ownership of backend services, focusing on performance, reliability, and clear documentation.
Troubleshoot and debug production issues independently, even in environments without dedicated QA support.
Manage infrastructure using Terraform, ECS, and Lambda within our containerized AWS environment.
Enhance our CI/CD workflows and continuous deployment pipelines using tools like CircleCI.
Lead code reviews to share knowledge, promote best practices, and ensure the delivery of maintainable, testable code using Pytest.
Apply a product-oriented mindset to suggest technical improvements that align with our company goals and user-facing objectives.

Must-haves

At least 4 years of professional development experience using Python.
Proven experience working with containerized Django or FastAPI services and deploying them on AWS.
A track record of collaborating with Data Science teams to bring machine learning models into production.
Strong proficiency in SQL databases, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD best practices.
Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to provide constructive peer feedback and work autonomously.
