The opportunity

We are looking for an ambitious Lead Backend Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with leaders across product, design, and engineering to define the foundational elements of our platform. You will be instrumental in creating a seamless customer experience by driving end-to-end journeys. This position reports directly to the Director of Software Engineering and offers the chance to make a significant impact on how we deliver hearing care to our users.

A day in the life

• You will collaborate with our CTO and cross-functional partners to define product features and technical specifications.
• You will own and architect backend systems and microservices, utilizing tools like Node.js, GraphQL, Express.Js, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• You will mentor fellow engineers by hosting code reviews and debugging sessions while championing efficiency through continuous refactoring and architectural improvements.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer with a passion for leadership and a track record of shipping high-quality software. You communicate effectively in English and thrive in collaborative environments. Your background includes:

• At least 8 years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer.
• A strong foundation in SQL and experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
• At least 5 years of experience building and running AWS cloud solutions at scale.
• Proven expertise in designing and debugging complex APIs and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with Node.js, Express.Js, and GraphQL, with TypeScript skills being a welcome bonus.
