Lead Backend Engineer at Genies, Inc.

Genies is the leading avatar technology company, dedicated to empowering artists and developers to build interoperable, gamified experiences. With 250 million dollars in funding from notable investors like Silver Lake and NEA, we have already partnered with major names in the music industry to bring digital identities to life. We are currently seeking a Lead Backend Engineer for a full-time, on-site position to join our Developer Platform Team. In this role, you will help shape the foundation of our avatar network by leading the development of backend services, core mobile tools, and AI infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend services that support our mobile and web applications while ensuring top-tier reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders in design and product to define the technical roadmap and drive the execution of our developer platform.
• Lead initiatives to scale our infrastructure horizontally and vertically, ensuring our systems remain robust as user demand for our avatar experiences grows.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of professional engineering experience, including a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming, specifically with Golang, Python, Java, or C++.
• Proven expertise in NoSQL database design, distributed systems, and developing complex APIs.
• Hands-on experience working within cloud environments such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of mentoring team members and influencing technical strategy.

What we offer
