Lead Backend Engineer at 5X

At 5X, we are on a mission to simplify the fragmented world of data engineering. We believe businesses should not have to piece together disparate tools like car parts to manage their information. Instead, we have built a comprehensive, out-of-the-box platform that allows companies to build data infrastructure from scratch or enhance their existing setups while reducing costs by up to 50 percent. Founded in 2020, we have grown into a global team of over 70 people across the USA, Singapore, the UK, and India, and we are looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to help us continue shaping the future of data analytics.

What you'll be doing

• You will take charge of the end-to-end architecture, design, and delivery of our platform capabilities, ensuring they are both scalable and secure.
• You will provide strategic technical direction and inspire our engineering team to innovate while maintaining a high-performance culture.
• You will mentor and develop fellow engineers, fostering their growth as you collaborate with product and design teams to ship high-quality features.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in backend development and a passion for building intuitive data solutions. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, supported by 8 to 12 years of backend experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
• Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot, along with extensive experience designing robust REST APIs.
• Proficiency in managing SQL and NoSQL databases and architecting scalable data solutions.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure optimization.
• Solid familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools, specifically Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to lead and motivate teams in a fully remote environment.
