Lead Backend Engineer at PUBG Madison

What you bring

We are seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will guide the development of backend services for our next major project. You will work closely with our Technical Director and Shared Engineering Lead to design scalable architectures and oversee the live service operations that keep our games running smoothly. This position is available to candidates located anywhere, as we fully support remote work arrangements. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Driving the development of backend services in an iterative environment to meet our project release goals.
• Building and maintaining the APIs necessary to support gameplay features, social systems, and cross-platform play.
• Managing and delegating tasks to a diverse group of internal team members, external studios, and contractors.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 7 years of experience in backend service development and a proven track record of technical leadership. We are looking for someone who is proficient in C# and has a deep understanding of database architecture, containerization, and infrastructure as code. You should be comfortable working with major cloud providers and have experience with observability techniques to maintain live gaming services. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers. We value candidates who are proactive, capable of validating design specifications, and experienced in solving complex problems related to platform features and matchmaking.
