At 84.51°, we operate at the intersection of retail data science, consumer insights, and media. We partner with The Kroger Co. and a wide network of consumer packaged goods companies to deliver personalized shopping experiences. By leveraging first-party data from over 62 million U.S. households, we fuel customer-centric journeys through our loyalty marketing and precision media solutions. We are currently looking for a Lead Architect to join our Media Engineering team on a full-time basis. This is a remote position available to candidates residing anywhere in the United States who are outside of our primary hub locations.

Responsibilities

• Guide our technology teams by evaluating trade-offs and establishing a clear path forward for complex projects.
• Design and document cloud-native architectures that remain accessible and understandable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and engineers to ensure our platform strategy meets business requirements while adhering to security best practices.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher, complemented by relevant certifications in technology or project management.
• At least 7 years of experience within engineering organizations, with 4 or more years specifically in retail, tech consulting, or professional services.
• Proven expertise in cloud technologies, including hands-on experience with delivery and support in cloud environments.
• Proficiency in modern development practices such as CI/CD, service-oriented architecture, infrastructure as code, and containerization.
• Familiarity with programming languages like JavaScript, Java, or Python is considered a significant advantage.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to operate with high independence when making time-sensitive decisions.
