We are looking for a dedicated Kernel Maintenance Engineer to join our global team. You will play a vital role in ensuring the stability of our kernels, directly impacting millions of users who rely on our platform for their AI, IoT, and cloud infrastructure.
What you'll be doing
- You will proactively collaborate with our globally distributed team to maintain various versions and architectures of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
- You will respond quickly to assess and mitigate security exploits, including evaluating CVE notifications and integrating necessary resolutions.
- You will sharpen your debugging skills by diagnosing complex issues reported by our customers and the open source community, while mastering Debian and Snap packaging processes.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you should be a self-starter who values quality and clear documentation. We are looking for someone who can communicate effectively in English and present themselves professionally to the open source community. Your technical background should include:
- Significant programming experience in C.
- A solid understanding of Git workflows for patching and code reviews.
- Demonstrated experience in operating system kernel patching and debugging.
- Proficiency with Python and Bash scripting.
- Familiarity with Ubuntu, Debian, and Snap packaging.
- A deep understanding of the Linux kernel, its subsystems, and upstream release cycles.
