Junior Technologist at Squarepoint Capital

We are Squarepoint, a global investment management firm that builds its own high-performance trading platforms and large-scale data systems to deliver uncorrelated returns through systematic, quantitative strategies.

Responsibilities

• Work in small teams alongside senior technologists to design, build, and maintain production-grade trading and research software, systems, and infrastructure.
• Choose one of three technology tracks-Infrastructure, Quantitative Development, or Software Development-and align your work with the projects and technologies that match your interests and background.
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to gather requirements, deliver technical projects, and support production systems around the clock.
• Take advantage of learning initiatives, seminars, and on-the-job training to grow your skills continuously.

Must-haves

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Applied Math, Physics, Quantitative Finance, or Financial Engineering.
• No more than two years of relevant professional experience in software development, quantitative development, or technology infrastructure.
• Proficiency in at least one core language: Python, C/C++, KDB+/q, or JavaScript/TypeScript/React.
• Hands-on experience with Linux.
• Familiarity with version control and agile development practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and perform well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• English fluency.

Nice-to-haves

• Exposure to technologies such as Ansible, PowerShell, BASH, Kubernetes, Slurm, Prometheus, GitLab, or container orchestration platforms.
• Interest in low-latency systems, network infrastructure, data pipelines, or full-stack web applications.

Benefits

The base salary for this role is $60,000 when located in New York. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and benefits including 401k and dental insurance.
