The role

We are seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United Kingdom. This is a mid-level position designed for a professional with at least three years of experience in systems infrastructure operations. You will play a vital role in managing our server and storage infrastructure while working alongside our development and trading operations teams to keep our systems running smoothly.

Core responsibilities

• Manage and maintain our Linux server and storage infrastructure while automating manual operational tasks.
• Provide comprehensive hardware and software support for our research, QA, and production environments.
• Collaborate with core team members to provision Linux servers and Mac laptops while assisting with global datacenter installations and migrations.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong technical foundation and a proactive approach to problem-solving. We require the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
• Over three years of experience working in systems infrastructure operations.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python or BASH, including the use of scheduling utilities like cron.
• Strong familiarity with Linux, Mac, and Windows environments, including hardware administration and software upgrades.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with VMWare and containerization tools such as Docker is highly valued.
