The role

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. This is an ideal position for a developer early in their career who wants to learn from a team of senior engineers, all of whom possess over a decade of professional experience. You will serve as a key early member of our engineering group, working in an environment that prioritizes strong development practices and thoughtful technical decision-making.

Core responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance our existing Middleman and Gitbook sites while contributing new features.
• Manage our build processes and continuous integration setups to ensure smooth deployments.
• Investigate bugs and resolve sporadic test failures to keep our systems stable and reliable.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should have experience or a strong interest in working with our primary technology stack. We value engineers who choose the right tool for the job rather than being tied to a single language. Your work will involve:

• Developing on our backend, which is primarily built with Ruby on Rails, alongside smaller components written in Scala and Go.
• Building and maintaining our front-end, which is largely powered by Ember.
• Utilizing continuous integration tools for linting, testing, visual diffs, and automated deployments.
• Communicating effectively in English as you collaborate with our senior engineering team.
