We are PolicyMe, a venture-backed InsurTech startup that is modernizing life insurance for Canadian families. Since our launch in 2018 we have sold more than one billion dollars in coverage, and we were recently named one of Canada’s 50 Most Impactful Companies. Our remote-first team is growing quickly, and we are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join us on a full-time basis and help scale the platform that powers our fully digital insurance experience.
Responsibilities
- Build new product features inside our React-based web application that improve the experience for customers applying for life insurance.
- Contribute to our shared UI component library by creating and maintaining reusable packages published through npm.
- Enhance backend APIs and participate in technical design discussions that guide the architecture and scaling of the entire platform.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience with modern web development technologies including HTML5, CSS3, ESNext, React, and Node.js.
- Comfort working in UNIX or Linux environments and a solid grasp of core computer-science fundamentals.
- Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills, along with the ability to prioritize work and operate independently in a fast-paced startup setting.
